Jord participates in the 3rd Circular Economy Forum in the Dominican Republic

Jord joined FICIRCULAR 2025 in the Dominican Republic, sharing how C4 grasses can drive clean energy, land restoration, and circular innovation.

Jord took part in the 3rd International Forum on Circular Economy (FICIRCULAR 2025), an event that gathered public institutions, private companies, and international organizations to discuss how to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy in the Dominican Republic.

As part of the Nordic Evening, Jord’s Managing Director Charles Hefner represented the company in the panel “New Solutions for the Circular Economy – Scaling Innovation from a Nordic Model.” He shared how C4 grasses, Jord’s renewable biomass feedstock, can support clean energy production, restore degraded land, and close material loops through bioenergy and carbon removal solutions, bringing the Nordic model of circular innovation to the Caribbean context.

The Nordic session, co-hosted by the embassies of Sweden, Norway, and Finland together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), highlighted how circular models can turn waste into value and strengthen collaboration between the Nordics and the Caribbean.

The forum, organized by Deuman in partnership with UNDP and the Nordic embassies, also featured key milestones for the country’s circular economy agenda:

  • The launch of the Circular Financing Categorization System, led by the Dominican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, to help financial institutions identify and fund circular projects aligned with international sustainability standards.
  • The presentation of the Dominican Republic’s Plastic Action Roadmap, aiming to reduce mismanaged plastic waste by 87% and increase circularity from 6% in 2022 to 53% by 2040, making the country the first in the Caribbean to join the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP).

Jord’s participation in FICIRCULAR 2025 reinforces our commitment to advancing circular and low-carbon energy systems that regenerate ecosystems, create local value, and drive sustainable development in the Dominican Republic and beyond.
