Pressed Grass Biomass. A Renewable Fuel From a Source That Doesn't Run Out.
Jord's pressed grass is a solid biofuel made exclusively from C4-grass — cut, chopped, and mechanically pressed to a moisture content below 50%. Engineered to drop straight into industrial boilers already running on wood chips or agricultural residues, with the supply reliability those fuels can't match.

Why Jord Pressed Grass
Built for Boilers Already Burning Biomass
Not a coal replacement, not a pellet competitor — a direct, high-performance alternative to wood chips and agro-residues for industrial boilers, CHP plants, and process heat systems already running on non-pelletised biomass. The lowest-friction renewable feedstock to switch to.
Higher Calorific Value Than Agro Residues
More energy per tonne than wood chips and agro-residues — without their heterogeneity, contamination, or seasonal swings. Mechanical pressing drops moisture below 50%, stabilising combustion batch after batch. More heat per delivery. Fewer surprises in the firebox.
A Supply Chain That Doesn't Run Out
Wood residues track forestry cycles. Agricultural residues track harvests. Our perennial C4-grass tracks neither — grown on degraded land on a continuous-harvest cycle. A feedstock buyers can plan annual contracts around, not spot-market scrambles.
Cut, chopped, and pressed C4-grass biomass. The most direct form of our feedstock — engineered as a higher-performance alternative to wood chips and agro-residues.
Jord's pressed grass is the most lightly processed product in our portfolio. Perennial C4-grass cultivated on our farms in Senegal is harvested, cut into short, uniform pieces, and mechanically pressed to reduce moisture content to below 50% before distribution. There is no pelletisation, no thermal treatment, and no chemical processing — only the mechanical conditioning required to deliver a stable, combustion-ready feedstock to facilities already designed to handle non-pelletised solid biomass.
The product is engineered to behave like, and outperform, the wood chips and agricultural residues already burning in industrial biomass boilers, CHP plants, and process heat systems. Its higher calorific value reduces fuel volumes; its controlled moisture content stabilises combustion; and its continuous, year-round availability replaces feedstock supply risk with feedstock supply certainty. For industries already committed to biomass, pressed grass is the upgrade path — lower carbon, more reliable, better economics on the burner.

Calculate your CO2 savings with pressed grass
See how much your operations could reduce annual emissions by switching to — or co-firing with — pressed grass.
Decarbonising industrial heat and power starts with understanding the numbers. Use the calculator to compare the emissions profile of Jord’s C4 pressed grass against the fossil fuels currently used in your operations. Enter your annual consumption and select your fuel type — the calculator will show you the estimated CO₂ savings you could achieve each year.
Fossil fuel emission factors are based on EU reference standards. Calculator results are indicative estimates. For a detailed, site-specific emissions assessment, contact our technical team.

Fuel pellets
Jord's fuel pellets are a non-torrefied solid biofuel made from C4-grass, engineered for biomass boilers, industrial heating, and pellet stoves. They deliver reliable thermal performance for operations equipped to handle conventional pellet-grade fuel — and a clean substitute for gas and heavy fuel oil in industrial heat applications.
Black pellets
Jord’s black pellets are produced through a torrefaction process — heating C4-grass in a low-oxygen environment to create a denser, hydrophobic solid biofuel with a higher energy content than white pellets. Black pellets are compatible with coal handling, storage, and milling infrastructure, making them the preferred choice for coal plant operators pursuing a drop-in fuel transition with minimal capital investment.on.
Briquettes
Jord’s biomass briquettes offer a larger-format solid biofuel solution, compressed from C4-grass for use in industrial furnaces, large biomass boilers, and co-firing applications. Their size and density reduce handling and storage costs relative to loose biomass, while maintaining strong calorific performance. An efficient, scalable option for buyers requiring high-volume thermal energy with a low-carbon footprint.
