A Week of Insight and Inspiration at Bio360 Expo in Nantes
Last week, our Jord team was thrilled to participate in the Bio360 Expo in Nantes. This international exhibition serves as a platform for innovation, connection, and transformation within the bioenergy industry, with a dedicated focus on renewable carbon, bioenergy, and the bioeconomy. This event is where potential seamlessly transitions into tangible progress.
The expo provided an excellent opportunity to meet partners and industry colleagues, fostering discussions on ideas and innovations that set the stage for the future of bioenergy and biomass. Jord, together other cutting-edge Swedish bioenergy and biogas technologies were represented at the Swedish pavilion, coordinated by Swedish Energy Agency and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, where insightful discussions spanned across the spectrum of the biomass industry, including biochar, equipment manufacturers, and biomass producers and users.
Our key takeaways are deeply intertwined with the challenges and opportunities we face in this industry:
- The Source of Renewable Biofuel: We encountered the recurring question, "Where is all the renewable biofuel going to come from?" This challenge resonates with our ongoing efforts at Jord to develop renewable biofuels and provide innovative sourcing strategies. At Jord, we specialize in producing biomass on marginal and degraded land by cultivating specialized C4-grasses that thrive in these soils. Thanks to this approach, we are preserving forests by avoiding deforestation associated with pellets production, regenerating degraded and marginal land, removing thousands of tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere, and providing fossil free fuel to industries.
- The Potential of Biochar: The expo shed light on the incredible potential of biochar in carbon sequestration and soil enhancement. At Jord, we view biochar not just as a byproduct but as a key player in our biomass strategy. We're actively investigating methods to seamlessly integrate biochar production into our processes, fostering a circular economy and bolstering environmental sustainability. By incorporating biochar into our fields, we are enhancing grass health and yield by neutralizing acidity, bolstering water and nutrient retention, and improving drainage and aeration. In doing so, we're aiding in the regeneration of marginal and degraded soils.
- Collaboration for a Sustainable Future: The emphasis on collaborative efforts across sectors and industry stakeholders was evident at the expo. For us at Jord, this reaffirms our belief in partnerships as a driving force for innovation in the bioenergy sector. We are excited to explore new collaborations that align with our mission to Restore the biosphere and deliver renewable products.
As we at Jord reflect on these insights, our commitment to pioneering sustainable energy solutions is stronger than ever.

About Jord
Jord is a Swedish company headquartered in Stockholm that is rebalancing the carbon cycle by producing solid biofuel and biochar from C4-grass. Jord's unique process solves three problems simultaneously:
- Degradation of land.
- Dependency on fossil fuels.
- Increasing levels of CO₂ in the atmosphere.
Within Jord's regenerative agroforestry model, nature-based solutions are combined with innovation, constantly exploring ways to make a lasting, positive impact on our planet and society. Jord also provides carbon credits for businesses committed to reducing CO₂ emissions by offsetting otherwise unavoidable carbon emissions within their value chains. By partnering with us, businesses have the opportunity to go beyond sustainability.
