Jord and Borga announce strategic partnership to advance sustainable practices within construction sector

Stokholm, April 2024– Jord, the Swedish provider of solid biofuels and carbon credits, is thrilled to announce its exciting new partnership with Borga, a trailblazer in the steel-construction sector in Sweden. This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in both companies' commitment to advancing sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions in construction.

Borga is currently on a mission to minimize its environmental impact. The company's sustainability initiatives are based on three dimensions: environment, economic, and social sustainability, which align with three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Borga's commitments include reducing its environmental impact, prioritizing health and safety, and conserving resources.  For more extended information about Borga’s environmental policy and targets, please read the policy.

Moreover, Borga has partnered with Jord to acquire 36,000 carbon credits per year to establish an offsets-based program for its clients. With this program, Borga's clients can compensate for unavoidable CO₂ emissions in their building projects with carbon credits from emissions avoidance (fuel switch) and removal projects (soil sequestration) from Jord to achieve carbon neutrality. The partnership between Jord and Borga aims to leverage the strengths and expertise of both organizations to drive meaningful change in the steel-construction industry.

"Working together with companies like Borga Group, a company with high goals for their sustainability work, in a united effort, where everybody involved relize that CO₂ neutrality is a must for doing business in the future, is exciting an we look forward to an impactful cooperation. JORD have the capability to assist in cleaning the air and restoring soils and generally doing very good while extracting vast amount of CO₂ from the atmosphere. Having partners like Borgs Group helps in our mission," said Peder Dagsánth.

"At Borga, we strive to continually improve our environmental efforts and implement goals that reduce the company's impact on the climate. We evaluate our environmental impact regularly and work primarily to minimize it, with compensation being a secondary consideration. Partnering with Jord aligns perfectly with the journey towards sustainability. We are aware that there is still a long way to go, but this collaboration marks the beginning of our efforts. It will enable us to achieve our carbon reduction goals and lead the way in sustainable steel construction," said Anders Paulsson, COO at Borga Group.

By combining Borga's dedication to innovation and sustainability with Jord's proven track record in carbon credits solutions, the two companies aim to set a new standard for sustainability within the construction sector.
